Work Being Done at Kaluszyn, Poland
Shown is work being done in connection with the restoration of the Jewish cemetery in Kalusyzn, Poland. The Commission is funding the work with donations from Americans Joseph Gellman, Meredith and Dr. Richard Bodziner, and Candy Lowe generated by Gellman. The work being done for the Commission under the supervision of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland. Just before the Holocaust, about three-fifths of Kaluszyn’s population was Jewish, some 5,200 people. Nazi German forces murdered groups in the town, including near the cemetery, and sent the rest to the Treblinka killing center. The restoration is expected to be completed in late September.
