Poptodorova Lecturer Series

Commission Member Ned W. Bandler has been responsible for funding a series of lectures on Eastern European issues at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG). The series was named after former Bulgarian Ambassador to the U.S. Elena Poptodorova. In 2009, Ambassador Poptodorova delivered the inaugural lecture. She delivered another in November 2014 focused on U.S. philanthropic and educational engagement with the region. European Commissioner for International Cooperation Kristalina Geurgievla, first elected President of Bulgaria Zhelyu Zheleu (1990-97), Balkan Trust for Democracy Executive Director Ivan Vejvoda, European Commissioner for Consumer Affairs  Meglena Kuneva, former Macedonian Parliament Chair Lyubisha Georgievski, and former Bulgaria Ambassador to the U.K. and Ireland Ivan Stancioff are among those who have given presentations in the series.
