Batovo Jewish Cemetery Preservation

Chairwoman Lesley Weiss generated funds for the restoration and ongoing maintenance of the Batovo, Ukraine Jewish cemetery, located in Transcarpathia.  Tombstones have been found from 1883. In April 1944, the Jews were rounded up and relocated to a brick factory in Beregszasz (Berehovo), and then deported to Auschwitz. After the war, the few survivors settled elsewhere, although some returned to Batovo (Batyu).  No Jews live there today.

Below are pictures of the restored cemetery.
