Restored Latvia Holocaust Memorial Dedicated

Commission Member Eric Schwerin spoke July 4, 2016 in Riga, Latvia, at the dedication of a restored memorial to Jews murdered in the Holocaust. The memorial is located on the site of a synaogue destroyed 75 years ago. During the Nazi occupation of Latvia, hundreds of synagogues were burned, and 70,000 Latvian Jews and other European Jews in the country were killed. Schwerin spoke along with the President of Latvia, and Speaker of the Parliament, and the Israeli ambassador. The memorial was restored by the Council of Jewish Communities of Latvia, with funding from the Commission raised by Schwerin. Click Here to Read Eric Schwerin's Remarks
